SING & CRAFT AFTERNOON
Saturday 10 June, 2-5pm

Join Madrigirls for an afternoon of singing and crafting. The workshop will include singing sessions and a variety of 2 hour craft workshops to choose from, including felting, Fairisle knitting, mosaic making, willow weaving and printing, all led by experienced workshop leaders. Alongside these Madrigirls will teach work-songs to craft by – from waulking songs to Armenian felting songs, basket weaving songs to spinning songs. Fee includes all materials and refreshments. Please note, you can only take part in one craft workshop during the afternoon so choose carefully! Participants are also invited to take part in Madrigirls’ evening concert - 7.30pm in Hyndland Parish Church.

Needle Felting |
Knit your own Nordic style cup cosy with workshop leader Katie Sharp. Learn the basics of fairisle knitting and knitting in the round. This workshop is best suited to those with some knitting know-how (how to cast on and do a knit stitch minimum).
Mosaic MakingWork with ceramicist and public artist Teena Gould to create you own mosaic panel. Using glass mosaic, cut tile, mirror, pebbles, ceramic, shells and anything other found or recycled materials you've been treasuring. No experience necessary, just come ready to explore, create and have fun!

Learn the skill of needle felting - a traditional technique to combine wool fibres - and create your own mini landscape to take home. No experience necessary, all materials provided. Workshop led by Moira of Glasgow-based Moi-Designs & Illustrations.
Wooden Spoon CarvingHave a go at hand carving a wooden spoons from locally sourced Scottish hardwoods. Participants will be given a basic introduction to wood carving using specialist carving tools and shown tips and techniques. All ages and abilities welcome! Led by Martin from Rag and Bone Workshop, Glasgow.

Willow Weaving |
Learn the craft of wood stamp printing with David from Mobile Print Studio. Carve your own wooden stamp and use it to print your own cards. Your stamp will also double up nicely as a decoration to take home!

Learn the basics of willow weaving with expert Joan Campbell. In this 2 hour session you'll create two decorations using different techniques - a hanging willow tree and a willow fish.

Card Loom Weaving |
Come and be introduced to the principles of card weaving in a very creative way. You'll use a variety of threads and stripes of fabrics to create a unique landscape artwork to take home. All equipment materials provided but please bring a FORK! Workshop run by Annwen Nicholas, retired Textiles lecturer and teacher of creative embroidery for City in Guilds.
